"In the summer of 2006, my pulmonary doctor and my cardiologist designated my physical condition as pulmonary hypertension. Baffled as to the next step, the pulmonologist sent me to a teaching hospital in San Francisco.
I was impressed, but not for long. I still couldn't walk or breathe easily, and the cost of the meds they recommended was laughable. Exasperated, I became my own advocate. I decided to start walking again in spite of the pain. And then a real miracle occurred - I asked Jim Jensen to be my personal trainer! (I wasn't sure what that entailed, but it felt like the right thing to do.)
From early June 2006 to now Jim has known what exercises to give me. I have regained energy. My body is stronger and better balanced. My weight is steady. I am on the right path!
Last week, I visited both the local cardiologist and pulmonologist. They were impress to put it mildly, with my journey from depending on others for healing - to the realization of self-advocacy, proper exercise, and proper attitude. Keep doing what you are doing they both exclaimed.
