Bodegas Volver La Mancha Tempranillo 2010 – Costco $12

volverLargeWhat a great time to be alive…Such great wine at bargain prices. Bodegas Volver La Mancha Tempranillo 2010, from Spain, is definitely in that category. Wow, where to start. Start by going to Costco and picking up a lot of it! This is 100% Tempranillo with great balance, subtle tannin’s, plenty of oak, earthy, and smokey with a nice…..long…..finish. This wine should really age well though it’s really tasty now and besides, I don’t have the patience.

Check out what the critics are saying about it:

“Glass-staining ruby. Explosive, seductively perfumed aromas of candied red and dark berries, incense, rose pastille and Asian spices. Sappy, penetrating black raspberry and blueberry flavors show excellent depth and clarity, with smoky mineral and star anise nuances gaining strength with air. Closes sweet and very long, with lingering spiciness and gentle tannins. Importer Jorge Ordonez told me that lots of high-end oak is used here, from the likes of Taransaud, Darnajou and Dominique Laurent, for example. ”

“The 2010 Volver (100% Tempranillo) is a single vineyard, outstanding effort that was aged in French oak for 14 months prior to being bottled unfiltered. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by copious aromas of black currants, black cherries, pepper, underbrush and licorice. “

“Hatched from the modern model, this dark, oaky Tempranillo is saturated in color, with flush, potent aromas of boysenberry, wood spice and lead pencil. It’s lively and bringing the volume, while flavors of charred, savory blackberry and barbecue end in a crusty tasting finish with some heat.”
